Children looking to find what speaks to them in the arts will have a chance to find out with the reigning Miss Stanly County.
Miss Stanly County Kate White will host Camp Create Tuesday to Thursday at the Amherst Gardens building at 300 S. Bell Ave., Albemarle. The camp runs from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and is for youth in grades K-8.
White said the camp will start with helping kids to talk about and identify their feelings, to “work as a group or individually to identify the emotion and how we can go about coping with it.”
“It’s a good thing to instill in our youth so they can go on and learn how to deal with their problems the correct way,” White added.
Campers will get to work on crafts donated from local businesses while a local photographer has agreed to come take pictures of the camp. Daily, they will have lunch donated from a local restaurant and also have a movement time or physical activity to round out the day.
White said she wants to “promote arts for our youth so they have a better chance of finding what really ignites their passion and they can go to lead successful lives.”
