A new subdivision which is close to being completed got final approval from the Richfield Town Council.
At Monday’s meeting, Councilman Barry Byrd reported on the development on U.S. Highway 52 near the Food Lion shopping plaza.
Byrd said utilities like water, power, sewer and cable television were nearing completion. Engineers were ready to register the plans.
He abstained from voting for the project since he owned the development.
Byrd said he first came before the board two years ago with the project. Many of the delays, he added, were due to state agencies and engineers working under COVID-19 guidelines.
Stanly County has signed off on the sewer portion of the subdivision, Byrd added.
Councilman Jason Ritter moved to approve the new subdivision, seconded by Mary Shaver. The motion passed 4-0 with Byrd abstaining.
The town council also passed a motion 4-0 changing the name of the road going into the subdivision to Stoneyard Road.
At the meeting, the Richfield Town Council also swore in the five new members of the town’s Board of Adjustments: Tammy Myers, Kevin Almond, Rudy Rakes, Todd Culp and Guy Medlin.
