We are living in days of unchartered waters and as the quarantine continues, more families and individuals are suffering monetarily and emotionally.

The Stanly County Ministerial Association is the major umbrella for The Clothing Closet, The Community Table, and the Food Pantry; recently our garden club had as guest speaker Jenny Clore, development director, who enlightened our group on the function of each branch of SCCM.

The Clothing Closet, out of their sales each month, a little over half of the needed money raised is used to keep the shelves at the pantry stocked.

Recently, with the closing of the Clothing Closet, the shelves at the pantry have been thinly stocked, and since the participating churches have also been shuttered, the collected stock of food which each of these collects each week has also dwindled greatly, yet the demand for more and more has increased from the families whose jobs have been lost.

SCCM’s needs are many at this time of uncertainty. Please help to restock and fill once again the shelves at the pantry.

Your check will provide the workers to continue helping friends and families in our community.

We all have so much about which to be so thankful and one of our thankful prayers should be that each of us is able to help someone else whose life had been dealt a bad hand and they need a little assistance; the need is great.

So please sit down and write a check, today. It doesn’t have to be large. Every cent will be well spent, for even a dollar will buy a couple cans of food.

Not only will the monies mean food for the families, but giving will also show to these good people who have fallen upon hard times that others out in the community care for them.

This also means some degree of hope for each recipient as each person will come to know others in our good county care about them as human beings.
