North Stanly men’s basketball hosts playoff game tonight

The North Stanly Comets men’s basketball team qualified for the 2025 North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) state playoffs and will play at home tonight.

North Stanly is the No. 16 seed in the 2A classification’s Western region with a 21-6 overall record, the Comets’ second straight 20-win season and fourth time in five years the Comets have won 19 or more games. The Comets finished third overall in the YVC standings and reached the finals of the YVC tournament, losing to host Mount Pleasant, 59-31.

The Comets take on No. 17 seed Walkertown (16-9) tonight at 6. The Wolfpack finished second in the 2A Mid-State Conference and won seven of the team’s last eight games, having a seven-game win streak end in the MSC tourney finals to the top seed in the West, Reidsville.

Tuesday’s winner would play either Reidsville (25-0) or No. 32 Brevard (11-12) in the second round Friday.
