The South Stanly Rebel Bulls football program entered Thursday’s home game against former conference opponent South Davidson having not had a shutout win since 2018, a span of 44 games.
South Stanly jumped out to a fast start and did not look back, shutting out the Wildcats 66-0.
For South Stanly (2-1) it was the first shutout victory since a 42-0 win versus West Montgomery on Oct. 12, 2018.
South Stanly’s 66 points scored was also fifth all-time for the program for points scored in a game, and the fourth biggest margin of victory for a South Stanly team in program history.
Rebel Bulls quarterback Kaleb Richardson got the scoring started early with a 27-yard TD pass to Jasiah Holt.
After the next Wildcats drive stalled, Holt returned a punt 82 yards for a touchdown.
Richardson scored on the next drive on a 17-yard bootleg left to make it 21-0 with 2:30 left in the opening quarter.
An interception set up another Bulls TD as Richardson found Kylan Dockery for a 39-yard TD and a 28-0 lead after one quarter.
South Stanly scored 26 points in the second quarter, including a Richardson to Dockery 51-yard pass which made it 34-0 with 6:58 left in the first half.
The hosts scored three times in the final two minutes of the first half, including a tipped pass into Holt’s hands, a 33-yard TD run from Calicutt and an Ikey Holt 9-yard TD run which put South Stanly up at halftime 54-0.
The Bulls will travel to Wheatmore (0-3) Friday night. The Warriors were scheduled to play at home versus Bishop McGuiness tonight.
