West Stanly football drops to 0-2 with road loss

The West Stanly football team had Friday’s road game at Carson postponed to Monday because of storms.

Monday’s game saw the Colts drop to 0-2 for the first time in more than a decade in a 38-14 loss to the Cougars.

West (0-2) allowed 229 rushing yards to the Cougars (1-1) and three rushing touchdowns in Monday’s loss, along with 63 passing yards and one passing score. The Colts’ Carson Yow recovered a Carson fumble, forced by Ben Mecimore, and Caylem Best had one interception for the West defense.

Mecimore and Kaleb Cullingford had six tackles each for West, with Mecimore posting two tackles for a loss, and Maverick Scott had a sack for West.

With Friday’s loss, the Colts are 0-2 for the first time since West was winless in 2012.

The Colts host Albemarle (0-2) tonight. The Bulldogs lost in overtime at home Monday to Trinity, 34-28.
