The following was submitted by Kim McGowen, annual giving officer for Stanly Health Foundation, host of Stanly County’s “Dancing With the Stars.”

The stage is set for a night of dazzling performances and community spirit as the 12th annual Dancing with the Stars event supporting Butterfly House Children’s Advocacy Center approaches.
Among the standout participants this year are two remarkable individuals deeply rooted in Stanly County: Kyle Ziebarth and Lorie Lisenby.
Ziebarth, a Stanly County native who grew up in Norwood and Albemarle, is bringing his passion and energy to the dance floor. He attended South Stanly High School, where he excelled in football, wrestling, golf and track. He later graduated from Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and obtained his Basic Law Enforcement Certification.
He began his career with the Appalachian State Police Department and currently serves with the Albemarle Police Department. In his free time, he enjoys running, writing songs on the guitar and cooking.
Adding to his diverse talents, he speaks German.
Lisenby is celebrated as a consummate anesthesia professional, local small business owner, active board member of a local community HOA and dedicated mother of four.
She grew up in Union County and has been a Stanly County resident since 2000, contributing her skills and talents to the community for the past 24 years. She is the owner and operator of Stanly Aesthetics, a locally women-owned business offering non-invasive aesthetics treatments in downtown Albemarle.
She is enthusiastic about supporting the Stanly Health Foundation through the Butterfly House by participating in this year’s Dancing with the Stars event.
Her life’s work of helping others aligns perfectly with the mission of Butterfly House, which supports the community’s most vulnerable citizens.
Fun fact: Lorie was once featured in a Food Lion commercial.
Both Kyle and Lorie have shown incredible dedication not only to their professional and personal lives but also to their community. Their participation in this year’s Dancing with the Stars event highlights their commitment to making a difference.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center, featuring the enchanting theme “Magic of Motown.” With 11 dance teams perfecting their routines throughout the summer and engaging in creative fundraising efforts, this evening promises to be a memorable celebration of talent and philanthropy.
Tickets are now available, and the community is encouraged to come out and support Kyle, Lorie, and all the participants as they dance for a cause.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Butterfly House Children’s Advocacy Center, providing vital services to children and families in need.
