For the first time in recent memory, all four Stanly high school football teams will combine for a preseason showcase scrimmage event.

The inaugural Stanly County Jamboree: The Gridiron Games will be 6-10 p.m. Friday at North Stanly High School. Tickets will be $10 and are available online at gofan.co.

North head coach Chad Little said the new event comes from collaboration between the four high school coaches. The Comets will host the first event, with next year’s planned at West Stanly. The event will rotate to the various schools once every four years.

Two games will be played simultaneously, starting at 6 p.m. Each team will get 10 offensive plays from the 40-yard line heading towards the respective end zones. Games will run approximately 35 minutes.

Little said the event created by the four coaches is a fundraiser which will be split among the schools.

“We are uniting together to do this to build our brand of football for Stanly County,” Little said. “The better we play and the more exposure we get, the better it is for our kids so they have better opportunities.”

The Community School of Davidson, East Rowan, Piedmont and Pine Lake Prep will travel to Stanly for the Jamboree. The schedule is as follows:

6 pm – N. Stanly vs. PLP; S. Stanly vs. CSD

6:40 – W. Stanly vs. E. Rowan; Albemarle vs. Piedmont

7:20 – West vs. PLP; North vs. CSD

8:00 – South vs. PIedmont; Albemarle vs. E. Rowan

8:40 – West vs. CSD; South vs. E. Rowan

9:20 – North vs. Piedmont.; Albemarle vs. PLP.
