The accolades for the West Stanly softball program have been many and fruitful for many seasons, including one more kudos this season.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association recently released its selections for All-Region teams for the 2023-24 high school softball season.

In addition to two players for South previously mentioned, Colts outfielder Aliyah Rush was named to the team.

Colts outfielder Aliyah Rush recently completed her senior season with West. The three-time state champion finished this season second on the team in batting average (.371), tied for first in runs scored (41) and drove in 19 RBIs with five doubles and two triples.

Rush was part of a streak of success for the Colts. West Stanly won four straight 2A state titles (2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023) and amassed a 39-game win streak, ranking among the best in state history. West also had a 25-game win streak in state playoff games in the team’s recent state championship runs.

“We are proud of each player that contributed to this amazing achievement,” West Stanly head coach Emily Smith said. “While we know all streaks must come to an end, the memories from each playoff game will always be with us. As a coach, it has been an extreme honor to watch these ladies work incredibly hard to reach this accomplishment.”
