The NCHSAA released the state softball playoff brackets Monday evening for the four classifications. All four of the Stanly high schools fielding varsity teams this season will play in their respective brackets.

2A Playoffs

Two Stanly teams earned top seeds and first-round home games in the Western Region.

North Stanly, who won the Yadkin Valley Conference regular-season title but lost in the semifinals of the conference tournament to Union Academy, 2-1, is the No. 2 seed in the West.

The Comets (16-3) will host No. 31 East Burke (10-13) in the opening round of the playoffs.

West Stanly, the four-time defending 2A state champs, finished the regular season second in the Rocky River Conference. The Colts rallied in the RRC tournament to win the title and earn a No. 8 seed in the postseason.

West (17-9) will host No. 25 East Davidson (14-7) in the first round of the playoffs.

1A Playoffs

South Stanly, coming off a 12-5 regular season and a 4-3 win Friday night in the finals of the YVC Tournament, will be at home Tuesday as a No. 3 seed. The Rebel Bulls will host the No. 30 seeded Hayesville Yellow Jackets (1-15).

Gray Stone Day (5-11) earned a No. 20 seed and will travel into the mountains to take on the No. 13-ranked Murphy Bulldogs (12-5, 9-3).
