North Stanly women’s basketball open season with road win

The North Stanly Comets women’s basketball team opened on the road Tuesday at non-conference cross-county rival West Stanly.
Lexi Goode led North (1-0) with 12 points, hitting 5-of-10 shots from the field in a 33-29 win over the Colts.
Mary Beth Bowers added nine points for the Comets, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Maryn Mauldin paced the Colts (0-1) with nine points while Rachel Efird had eight.
