A new industrial site in Stanly County has become open, according to Stanly County Economic Director Candice Lowder at Monday’s meeting of the Economic Development Commission board.

Located directly behind New Finish in Norwood, two parcels on U.S. 52 South are being called the Bradley industrial site, Lowder said.

Zoned heavy industrial, the 114-acre site has access to rail, water, sewer and electrical access.

“We are getting a lot of interest in that site,” Lowder said.

She said in a conversation with Duke Energy the site could be submitted for one of the site readiness programs with the electricity provider “because it has a lot of potential.”

The program with Duke Energy is the same one, Lowder said, which earlier in the season the EDC had submitted another site, the Riverstone Industrial site in Stanfield. She added the engineering firm chosen by Duke has sent its first round of files to the EDC board and the county’s board of commissioners.
