Oakboro Town Council sets public meeting for Charlotte Pipe rezoning

One lingering piece of business standing in the way of bringing Charlotte Pipe to Oakboro got a new date for the town’s council to address.

The Oakboro Town Council unanimously passed a motion Monday night to set June 2 as a town meeting for rezoning requests of 11 various properties by Oakmont Acquisition, a company owned by Charlotte Pipe and Foundry.

The requests by Oakmont includes plots at:

  • 16970 Buster Road;
  • 10195 Lighthouse Road;
  • 8504 Swift Road;
  • 16858 Silver Road;
  • 11366 Shinn Road;
  • 11350 Shinn Road;
  • 712 N. Pine Street; and
  • 405 W. 8th Street.

Other requests from Oakmont include two tracts of land on Silver Road and a tract on Lighthouse Road.

At the same meeting, a public hearing will be conducted for a rezoning request by Joseph Burleson for Phase III of the Forrest Creek Subdivision.

The town board will also have a public hearing for the presentation of the town’s budget June 2.

Also approved Monday by the council was a utility easement for a water line with the Yadkin Valley Water System from Norwood to Monroe. It will cross N.C. Route 205 South at a cost of $12,350.

The town council also set filing fees for mayor and council members at $25.
