PHOTO GALLERY: Airing of the Quilts

In the historic setting of the 1852 Isaiah W. Snuggs and Freeman-Marks Houses, the “Airing of the Quilts” show on Saturday featured quilts from the private collection of Wanda Brooks and the collection of the Stanly County Historical Society.

Airing quilts outside has a long tradition in America beginning in colonial times.

Early European settlers would mark the beginning of spring by airing quilts outside following heavy use during the winter season.
