Hospice of Stanly benefits from Old North State Club partnership

The women of the Old North State Club hosted a dinner recently to benefit Hospice of Stanly.

About 150 people attended the event April 22 at the Old North State Club. A cocktail reception was held at the clubhouse before going to member homes for dinner.

The event marked 20 years of support for the nonprofit with a donation of more than $43,000 for 2023. Overall, the group has raised more than $430,000 for Hospice of Stanly throughout the past 20 years.

“We are blessed to have such a quality hospice organization serving Stanly County and the greater Uwharrie region and we are pleased to see they received a 5-star rating because of the excellent patient and family care provided,” said Pat. Salmonese, chairperson of the Old North State Hospice Committee. “It’s nice to think that our 20 years of partnership and support played at least some small role in helping our hospice achieve and maintain this level of service.”

A committee of women from the Old North State Club planned every detail of the evening. In celebration of the 20th year of the partnership, guests were invited to send a photo of a loved one who was cared for by a hospice organization.

The photos were displayed at the event as a visual representation of the importance of supporting hospice and the personal connections involved.

Committee members include Shannon Metera, Christy Modzelewski, Emily Breece, Kerra French, Pat. Salmonese and Debbie Struthers.

“We thank the Old North State Club for their years of dedication and commitment to Hospice of Stanly,” Hospice of Stanly Executive Director Lori Thayer said. “The support we receive from this event each year allows us to provide resources to underserved populations at end of life. We congratulate them on 20 years of faithfulness to the seriously ill in our community.”
