REGIONAL: Improvements coming to Union County roads

A pair of contracts awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation will bring improvements to more than 25 miles of state roads in Union County.

A $4 million contract calls for milling, resurfacing, and reconstructing shoulders on approximately 20 miles of roads, including N.C. 207 between Stack Road and West Morrow Avenue, and Old Waxhaw-Monroe Road between Potter Road South and Providence Road.

Improvements for eight sections of secondary roads are also included in this contract.

A separate $1.8 million contract includes milling, resurfacing and grading shoulders along seven miles of 12 secondary roads. Sections of Stinson Hartis Road, Tilley Morris Road, Price Shortcut Road, and Brief Road are included in the list of improvements.

Work on both contracts can start as soon as the end of April, wrapping up by July 1, 2022.
