Stanly County Chorale presents ‘Carols at the Spinet’

The Stanly County Chorale will present its Christmas holiday concert, “Carols at the Spinet: A New Spin on Old Favorites” at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 and 3 p.m. Dec. 8 at the First Baptist Church in Oakboro and First Baptist Church in Albemarle, respectively.
“This concert has something for every musical taste,” says Lisa Ewers, director of the Chorale.
From the stirring Jay Althouse arrangement of “Little Drummer Boy”/“Peace on Earth,” made famous by Bing Crosby and David Bowie, to the rousing Dan Forrest Celtic arrangement of “Joy to the World,” this program will stir and inspire. Titles like “The Holiday Tango!” and “The Twelve Pains of Christmas” will entertain audiences through their light-hearted and comedic look at the secular aspects of the season.
Several local, as well as regional musicians will join with the Chorale on this concert. Those musicians include: Carmella Hedrick on penny whistle, flute and synthesizer; Tim Hedrick on clarinet; Dr. Elizabeth Harrison on piano and synthesizer; Marlin Ludwig on clarinet; Tom Lipe on acoustic and bass guitar; Adam Cycotte on percussion; Hanna Fishastion on cello; and Anthony Jones on upright bass.
