New construction standards set for Oakboro at town council meeting

The Oakboro Town Council set new engineering standards for the town by passing a new procedures manual.

Town Commissioner Mike Efird presented the manual and motion for its approval at Monday’s meeting of the town council. Efird said the manual was prepared by AMT Engineering of Charlotte and contains standards for future construction in town for streets, water and sewer pipe sizes, types of pavement to use for streets and more.

“(The manual) is something we have been needing for a long time,” Efird said.

He then moved to approve the manual, which was seconded and passed unanimously.
