Stanly basketball roundup: Jan. 28

In basketball games Tuesday, the Gray Stone women hosted South Davidson while Albemarle was at North Moore and North Stanly visited North Rowan.

Gray Stone 55, South Davidson 24

The Knights improved to 14-0 on the season and 9-0 in the YVC with a home win over the Wildcats (3-14, 3-8)

Niriah Medley led Gray Stone with 12 points while Danika Ray added 11 as 10 different Knights scored in the win.

Albemarle Sweeps North Moore

Sophomore guard M.J. Raye scored 31 points adding eight assists and five rebounds in a 65-52 win.

Camarie McNeil just missed a double-double with 16 points and nine boards.

The Albemarle women improved to 7-12 overall and 5-6 in the YVC with a 66-16 win at the Mustangs.

Krystin McLendon led Albemarle with 19 points while Shada Wall added 14 points and Promise Porter had 10.

Comets swept by North Rowan

The Comet men got within five late but lost to the Cavs by nine, 64-55.

Dyson Bell led North Stanly with 16 points whil Koby Poole added 12 and Doug Smith scored 11.

The women fell to 6-9 overall and 6-4 in conference with an 80-30 loss.
