Stanly Community College announces SGA president

Cassidy Ball, an Associate in Arts student from Albemarle, has been elected as president of the Stanly Community College Student Government Association (SGA) for the 2021-2022 year.

An honors student, upon graduation next spring, Ball plans to transfer to the University of North Carolina at Pembroke to pursue a degree in Business Administration with a track in Management.

She is also a member of the SCC chapter of Phi Beta Lambda, the collegiate level of Future Business Leaders of America. While a student in the Stanly Early College High School, she was a member of the National Honor Society, won a “Salute Your Hero” essay contest, and participated in the Governor’s School East at Meredith College. She is also involved in community and church musical activities.

As president, Ball will preside over monthly SGA meetings, represent the student body on the college’s Board of Trustees and help organize campus activities and service projects.

“The word ‘community’ in our college name is very important and meaningful,” Ball said. “On campus, students and employees support one another as we work toward becoming productive employees and community leaders during our careers. I’m also very honored to be serving as SGA president during this exciting 50th Anniversary year of Stanly Community College.”
