Stanly County Chorale prepares ‘Carols at the Spinet’
The Stanly County Chorale will soon begin rehearsals for its Christmas concert season, “Carols at the Spinet: A New Spin on Old Favorites.”
“This season is sure to have something for every singer and audience member,” says Lisa Ewers, director of the Chorale.
From the Jay Althouse arrangement of “Little Drummer Boy”/“Peace on Earth” as recorded by Bing Crosby and David Bowie, to the Dan Forrest arrangement of “Joy to the World,” this program will stir and inspire, Ewers said.
Titles like “The Holiday Tango!” and “The Twelve Pains of Christmas” will entertain audiences through their look at the secular aspects of the holiday season.
Rehearsals begin 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 (on-site registration begins at 6 p.m.) at First Baptist Church, Albemarle. Performances are scheduled for Dec. 7-8 in Oakboro and Albemarle. All interested singers, high school-aged and older, are invited to join the group and can pre-register through the registration link on the Chorale’s website, http://stanlychorale.org, or the Stanly County Chorale’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/stanlycountychorale.
Singers do not have to be residents of Stanly County to join. Singers from Montgomery, Cabarrus and Rowan counties are welcome.
