Strong series at Pfeiffer for Methodist’s Deal

MISENHEIMER — Former South Rowan standout Jackson Deal had a big series close to home over the weekend, as the Methodist junior outfielder was 6-for-13 against Pfeiffer.

Deal socked two home runs at Ferebee Field in the series finale, although Pfeiffer rallied to win that game 15-13.

Deal opened that game with a homer.

Methodist won 7-6 on Friday with Deal driving in two runs and won 2-1 in Saturday’s opening game of a doubleheader.

Jake Blevins, former West Rowan star, was the starting pitcher for Pfeiffer in Friday’s game and lasted into the fifth inning.

Carson grad Sam Safrit got the win for Pfeiffer in that wild 15-13 game. Safrit pitched the top of the eighth and was the beneficiary of Pfeffer’s five-run rally in the bottom of the inning.

The homers were Deal’s sec0nd and third of the season. He leads Methodist in runs scored with 37 and is second in hits with 49. He has 20 RBIs.
