Pedestrian dies after being hit

A pedestrian who was hit by an alleged impaired driver on U.S. Highway 52 in Albemarle Sept. 26 has died.

Lisa Annette Misenheimer of Albemarle died Sept. 28 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, according to her obituary, a week shy of her 54th birthday Oct. 5.

Around 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26, Albemarle police officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on U.S. 52 at Ellis Street involving a vehicle and Misenheimer, according to police reports.

A 2003 Ford driven by Owen Franklin Karnes Jr., 66, of Albemarle was traveling south on U.S. 52 North when it collided with Misenheimer, who was crossing the road, police reported.

Karnes was issued a citation for driving while impaired and scheduled for court in November.
