Missing Norwood teen found, Massachusetts man in custody

A Massachusetts man was taken into custody Friday night following the disappearance of a Norwood teen.

Michael Oliver

Michael Oliver, 39, of Clinton, Massachusetts was arrested and served warrants Friday in Berlin, Massachusetts. He was charged with human trafficking of a child victim, abduction of a child and soliciting a child with an electronic device.

Norwood Police Chief James Wilson said it is believed Oliver had been in contact online with the teen for over a year.

“We are thankful for the assistance of the Berlin Massachusetts Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Abduction Unit and Stanly County Communications,” Wilson said. “Because of dedication and hard work by these agencies involved, we were able to safely locate our missing juvenile. We would also like to thank community members who called with valuable information. A very happy ending to a dangerous situation.”
