James Leopard, a former state trooper, was found guilty Thursday of sex crimes with children.

Leopard, of Albemarle, was arrested in 2021 on numerous charges related to child sex crimes including indecent liberties with a child.

Clerk of Superior Court Ginger Efird said jury selection began March 28.

Sentencing for Leopard, 77, will be Monday morning at 10 a.m., Efird said.

Leopard was already a convicted sex offender and served time in prison from 2004 to 2005, according to a WSOC report.
