4 Stanly teams headed to volleyball playoffs

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association has released playoff brackets for volleyball championships.

In the 1A, No. 25 South Stanly (8-15) travels to No. 8 Piedmont Community Charter (19-3) for a 1 p.m. Saturday match.

The winner of this will play the winner of No. 9 Rosman (16-4) and No. 24 Hayesville (9-13).

Also in the 1A, No. 7 Gray Stone (16-5) will host No. 26 South Stokes (10-12) at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The winner will face the winner of No. 10 Alleghany (18-6) and No. 23 Mountain Heritage (12-9).

In the 2A, No. 6 West Stanly (21-5) will host No. 27 Lexington (15-7) at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The winner will face the winner of No. 11 Pine Lake Prep (12-11) and No. 22 Surry Central (11-12).

Also in the 2A, No. 4 North Stanly (25-1) will host No. 29 East Burke (13-12) at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The winner will face either No. 13 North Wilkes (20-4) or No. 20 Bandys (18-9).
