Pfeiffer Women’s Track & Field excels at UNC Wilmington’s Wendy’s Seahawk Invitational
The Pfeiffer men’s and women’s track and field teams continued their outdoor season at the Wendy’s Seahawk Navy Invitational on Saturday. Pfeiffer recorded 12 top-five performances, one event win and one school record during the event.
The Falcon women throwers continued to lead the way for the team as they provided six of the 12 top-five finishes on the day.
In the hammer throw, senior Tiffany Bartholomew broke the school record on her final throw, tossing the hammer 38.40m (126-0) to take third overall. Junior Aaliyah Thomas set a new personal record of 37.13m (121-10) to take fifth.
Thomas continued to shine throughout the day as she recorded two more top-five finishes in the shot put and discus events. Thomas’ throw of 27.50m (90-3) in the discus and 9.07m (29-9.25) in the shot landed her in third and fifth respectively.
Senior Tonishea Ford had a new personal best throw of 32.47m (106-6) to take second overall in the discus throw. Sophomore Avia Starnes rounded out the top-five finishes, as she took fourth in the discus with a throw of 25.77m (84-6).
The Falcons will be off this coming week. They will return to action on March 19-20 as they head to the Montreat Invitational.
