Stanly Community Christian Ministry receives part of $1 million grant
The Duke Energy Foundation is providing $1 million to support nonprofits dedicated to serving low-income communities. These grants, including one made in Stanly County, will strengthen capacity and increase the impact of local agencies that are on the forefront of helping North Carolinians with essential services like meals and shelter, according to a press release from Duke Energy.
“Duke Energy’s long-term success is deeply intertwined with the well-being of the communities we serve,” said Kendal Bowman, president of Duke Energy North Carolina. “Many nonprofits have experienced unprecedented demand in the last few years. These grants focus on building nonprofits’ capacities so they can meet the increased need.”
The company’s foundation donated $25,000 to Stanly Community Christian Ministry.
“SCCM is expanding and renovating our crisis assistance facility to create more space for food and case management services,” said Ashlyn Barbee, director of marketing and development at Stanly Community Christian Ministry. “Grant funds will be used to upgrade our Charity Tracker case management program and the installation for the network in order to support the upgrades. These technology upgrades will have a major impact on how we can help our clients more efficiently in all areas of service we provide.”
