Richfield Board of Adjustments to hear appeal from church regarding soup kitchen

The immediate fate of the proposed Community Table location at Richfield United Methodist Church may be determined this week.

At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Richfield Board of Adjustments, who recently had two new members sworn in, will hear the appeal.

Notice of the meeting was sent out and a sign with the meeting information posted in the yard of the church.

Previously, the church filed for an application to renovate its existing kitchen in the fellowship hall to allow the Community Table to host a weekday lunch.

After having filed for the permit in April last year and hearing no decision, Richfield UMC retained counsel in October to resolve the matter.

The town council discussed the matter with citizens at the November meeting when heated words were exchanged.

The church eventually received a letter in April denying its permit application. Richfield UMC filed an appeal which will be heard Wednesday.
