Community Christmas Dinner served drive-thru style
The 33rd Annual Community Christmas Dinner will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 25 at First Lutheran Church, 230 S. Second St., Albemarle.
The meals will be served by drive-thru due to Covid-19. Meals will be distributed at the portico on West South Street, directly across from Albemarle Police Department. Boy Scouts from Troop 82 will direct traffic.
Meals will be catered by Tiffany’s at the Boardroom. Each meal will have carved turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce and a roll.
Desserts are donated by Shawn and Laura Oke, owners of Albemarle Sweet Shop.
Sponsoring churches provided funds for meals and made Christmas cards for each meal. These churches include Annunciation Catholic, Central United Methodist, Christ Episcopal, First Baptist, First Lutheran, First Presbyterian and Main Street United Methodist.
Meals will also be delivered to on-duty public service workers at Albemarle Fire Department, Albemarle Police Department, Stanly County Sheriff’s office, Stanly County EMS and 911 Centers.
A task force from First Lutheran Church has been meeting since August to plan for this dinner.
