Stanly Arts Guild promotes two art scholarships
The Stanly Arts Guild will offer two art scholarships to be awarded in June. Each of these scholarships will award $1,000, and winners will be announced at the June meeting of the Guild.
The first is the Patricia Blake Hartley Scholarship, established as a memorial to Patricia Blake Hartley, a long-time member and supporter of the Guild.
The scholarship is awarded annually to a college student from Stanly County (preferably a junior or senior) who is currently enrolled as a visual arts or arts education major.
A check for $1,000, to be applied to tuition costs, will be paid directly to the college in attendance of the scholarship winner.
Application requirements must be completed and returned by 2 p. m. May 27 to be considered for this award.
A second scholarship is The Stanly Arts Guild Scholarship, and will be awarded to a high school senior planning to enroll, or a college freshman enrolled in a visual arts or arts education program, and may be a resident of Stanly or adjoining county (Anson, Cabarrus, Montgomery, Rowan or Union Counties).
A total of $1,000 will be paid directly to the college in attendance of the scholarship winner.
Carole Poplin, scholarship coordinator, said that applications for both of these awards may be obtained at Stanly Arts Guild, 330 N. Second St., Albemarle, NC.
