Stanly County Senior Services had its annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on Oct. 22 with a theme of “Boots and Banjos.”
Volunteers dressed up in their boots and hats to enjoy an evening of celebration and appreciation.
Pfeiffer nursing students, along with members of the Sunny Oaks 4-H Club, served the 162 volunteers in attendance.
Martha Sue Hall, Tasker Fleming, Charles Harris and Terry Smith entertained the group with familiar bluegrass tunes.
The Senior Services staff commended all of the volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to serve seniors in Stanly County.
Each year at this event, the department announces its Clarence D. Hinson Volunteers of the Year. The recipients this year were Lillie Ingram for the Senior Center, Willie Curlee and Mrs. Christine Witherspoon for the Nutrition Program and Bill Peak for Board Member of the Year.
“The unwavering support from our volunteers has touched countless lives and has been the heartbeat of the organization,” said Pamela Sullivan director of Stanly County Senior Services.
