Gray Stone Day School has been named to the 2024 Advanced Placement Program School Honor Roll, earning Platinum distinction, the school announced on Tuesday.
College Board, which administers the Advanced Placement Program (AP), recognizes schools annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.
The AP School Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
To be eligible for the Platinum badge, the highest of the four AP School Honor Roll levels, a school must meet or exceed the following criteria:
• Expand the school’s college culture by enabling 80% of seniors to take one AP course before graduating.
• Assist with college affordability by enabling 50% of the seniors to earn college credit by earning an AP exam score of 3.
• Optimize student’s college readiness by creating opportunities for 15% of seniors to take a total of five AP courses over their high school careers.
Gray Stone Day School not only achieved Platinum criteria on each of the three AP school honor roll metrics but exceeded the criteria by large margins.
“Earning this prestigious recognition is a testament to our students’ commitment to their post-secondary futures along with our faculty’s unwavering dedication to student success. We celebrate this milestone knowing that it represents not only the success of our school programs, but also the incredible potential and bright futures of our students,” said Helen Nance, chief administrative officer.
“AP gives students opportunity to engage in college-level work, to earn college credit and boost their grade point averages, said Trevor Packer, head of the AP program. “The schools that have earned this distinction are proof that is possible to expand access to these college-level course and still drive strong performance-they represent the best of AP.”
Gray Stone Day School is a regional college-preparatory school for grades 6-12 and free to attend.
