The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a flood watch until 6 p.m. Friday for much of central North Carolina, including most of the Piedmont, the Yadkin Valley, the Sandhills, the southern Coastal Plain, the Triad and Triangle areas.

Flash flooding is possible due to excessive rainfall associated with Hurricane Helene.
