A man died Saturday morning after the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a pickup truck.
Billy Joe Hartsell of Albemarle was traveling north on Millingport Road shortly after 11 a.m. when he was struck by James Arnette, whose truck went left of center, a source with the N.C. Highway Patrol said.
Arnette, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained minor injuries. Hartsell was wearing a helmet, but it was not DOT approved, the Highway Patrol said.
There are no signs of speeding or impairment, Highway Patrol said.
Arnette faces charges of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and driving left of center.
