Charges upgraded in Albemarle homicide case

Damani Jacquez Wall, 18, of Albemarle, faces upgraded charges in connection to a homicide that occurred in Albemarle on July 24.

Wall is now charged with first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery. Wall was already facing a charge of assault with deadly weapon intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
On July 24, at approximately 10:25 a.m., the Albemarle Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 1400 block of North Sixth Street. Upon arrival officers found Dy’Zavious Izayah Bivens, 18, of Albemarle deceased.
Police continue to search for Jamie Jermaine Mack, 18, of Kannapolis.

Mack is a 5-foot-7 Black male, 145 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, police said.
Mack is now also facing additional charges of first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery. He was originally charged with assault with deadly weapon intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Investigation indicates this was not a random act and that the parties involved were known to one another.
