The City of Albemarle is updating its utility customer billing software.
Beginning June 17, the city will utilize the software for payments related to electric, water, sewer, garbage and recycling.
“The new billing system will provide our customers with a more user-friendly and convenient way to manage their utility accounts,” Albemarle Public Utilities Director Jay Voyles said. “The software features online payments options, the ability to save payment methods, and eventually detailed consumption monitoring. Our residents will have greater control and insight into their utility usage and expenses.”
There are three changes customers will see:
1. New Bill Design: The next utility bill will look slightly different. The bill will include graphs depicting customer usage.
2. Updated Bill Pay Phone Number: Starting June 17, the phone number for bill pay by phone will change to 888-553-5407.
3. New Online Payment Website: Starting June 17, the website to pay your bill online will be www.albemarlenc.gov/paybill. The new online bill pay website will offer several features, including:
• View and pay utility bills
• Save payment information for future transactions
• Enroll in autopay
• View transaction history
• Monitor your consumption patterns
To set up their online account, customers will need:
• An email address
• Billing account number (located on the customer’s bill)
• Payment information (credit/debit card)
If customers wish to pay a bill before the new system starts on June 17, they can still call 1-844-203-8267 or visit https://ipn.paymentus.com/cp/canc.
