Michael Roark has been named interim Stanly County fire marshal following the retirement of Danny Barham.

Roark is the director of Stanly County Emergency Services, which includes Emergency Management, Fire Service and Emergency Medical Services.

Barham was with the county for 6.5 years.

In other county news, following the recent departure of David Jenkins as health and human services director, David Ezzell has been named interim health director.

County Manager Andy Lucas, who will fill the role of interim human services director, said it “will likely be after” July 1 before the health and human services director position is filled.

Jenkins spent four years in the position before leaving April 12 to become the public health director in Henderson County.
