Stanfield resident named Teen of Impact

Annika Schneider’s schedule is full most days.
Between pageant appearances, college classes and writing, the Stanfield resident stays busy.
The latest accolade for Miss North Carolina’s Teen is that she was named a Teen of Impact from the American Heart Association for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area.

“I am tasked with raising funds for the American Heart Association throughout the campaign. All funds will go to women’s heart health research,” Schneider said. “It goes along well with my goals as Miss North Carolina’s Teen because the American Heart Association is a national partner for the Miss America Opportunity. Being able to partner with one of our national partners is an incredibly special opportunity for me.”

Schneider, 19, is a freshman Pfeiffer University majoring in business management and leadership. She is an FCA student leader, a student ambassador, a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, a part of the Campus Activities Board and a member of the cheer and dance teams.
As Miss North Carolina’s Teen, she continues her Community Service Initiative of “Read With Me,” promoting reading as an educational and therapeutic option for all ages.
She is also working on a children’s book.
“It is about how I found my love of reading and why I promote it to others,” she said.
After she gives up her title in June, she wants to continue to further her education while competing in the Miss America Opportunity.
“I have gained over $5,000 in scholarships through MAO and want to continue to pursue higher education and chase my dreams of being Miss North Carolina,” she said.
She will also travel to Puerto Rico in July as it returns to the Miss America Opportunity.
“I got involved with Puerto Rico because I am Puerto Rican,” she said. “We immediately connected when I was crowned and have stayed in contact ever since. That connection led to me being invited to go to their competition in July as a special guest.
“I will be the Mistress of Ceremonies for one of their galas during the week of competition as well,” she said.
