Pfeiffer Women’s Cross Country wins team title

The Pfeiffer University women’s cross country had five runners place in the top 11 of the 56-runner field, taking the team title at the Pfeiffer Invitational on Sept. 16 in Misenheimer.
Reigning USA South Champion Madison Lowery came away with the individual title, running a, 18:53.0, which was two-minutes faster than the runner-up finisher, Yeniltza Roman from Johnson & Wales.
Senior Micah Welborn and freshman Makayla Borst claimed fourth and fifth place, respectively. Welborn completed the course with a 21:18.9 and Borst finished with a 21:21.6.
Freshman Maddie Hladik ran a 22:15.8, good for seventh spot, while Hayley Borst came in 11th place with a 22.46.7.
Pfeiffer will return to race on Sept. 30 at the NCAA South Regional Preview hosted by Berry College in Mt. Berry, Georgia.
