A benefit will be held at Locust Town Center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday to help raise funds for the infant son of Stanfield Police Chief Corie Faggart and his wife Mandy.
Bruce Faggart, who was born last August with a bilateral cleft lip and palate, will have palate repair surgery in August. He has a twin brother, Lawson.
A GoFundMe Page created last November for the family has raised $12,000.
“While the recovery will be the most difficult, this will also be the most overwhelming financially for Mandy and Corie,” according to a news release Norma Bova, one of the organizers of the benefit, sent to the SNAP, with Mandy’s blessing. “While having twins was tough enough, having one with a cleft palate made everything a little bit harder.”
Although the family’s insurance has helped, it has not covered most of Bruce’s surgeries, per the news release, as Corie and Mandy have had to directly pay for nearly all of his treatments and operations.
Bova has gotten to know Faggart over the years, as she works at the Stanfield Mini-Mart, located near the police station and she, along with others in the community, wanted to find a way to help the family.
“He is such a caring person,” Bova said about Corie Faggart. “He goes over and beyond to make sure everything is being done the right way.
“He’s been amazing for our little town,” Bova added.
The benefit event will include local vendors, live music, hot dogs and hamburgers, bouncy houses and face painting, according to the release. Bova and the other organizers are also hoping to have an auction and have been asking local businesses to donate items.
