Alpha Delta Kappa, a honorary organization for teachers, met March 9 at West Albemarle Baptist Church.

President Barbara Klein welcomed members.

Vice President Joyce Whitley introduced Glenda Moore, the guest speaker.

Moore is a volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte, which opened in 2011.

The first RMH opened in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1974, inspired by Kim Hall, a 4-year-old battling leukemia while her mom and dad, a football player for Philadelphia, slept on waiting room chairs and ate from vending machines.

Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home that provides comfort, support and resources to families for medical care of their child.
Families travel from all over the world to get the care for their child.

Members brought toiletries to be used by families who stay at RMH as the March altruistic project.

Klein led the business meeting.

Barbara Carpenter, chaplain, shared a thought for the day.

Members were reminded of state conference in Asheville April 22-23.

A raffle was held with proceeds going to the chapter’s scholarship fund.

The next meeting will be April 13 at West Albemarle Church.
