Atrium Health adds schedule option

Atrium Health is now offering another option to make access to healthcare easier for patients.

New or current patients looking to schedule an appointment with a family medicine provider, internal medicine provider or pediatrician, can now do so from the convenience of their smartphone, tablet or computer.

Patients can now log into a convenient web page for a seamless experience in scheduling an appointment by following a few prompts.

Existing patients can log in through their MyCarolinas account, while new patients will be guided through a series of questions to connect them with the right care.

Regardless of patient status, within a few easy clicks, patients can now schedule an appointment online.

Atrium Health piloted the technology in five practices earlier this year. More than 59,000 appointments have been made online through July.

“We received an overwhelming positive response from patients,” said Al Hudson, MD, senior medical director of primary care at Atrium Health.

“Patients want to be able to schedule an appointment fast, and they want it to be easy. Now they are free to make their appointment when their schedule allows, anytime, day or night,” Hudson added.

Through existing innovative technology, Atrium Health already offers patients the ability to reserve their spot online for Urgent Care, complete a Virtual Visit with a healthcare provider from the comfort of their couch, and receive life-saving behavioral health counseling through Telepsychiatry.

Atrium Health is continuing to invest in technology that allows patients to receive the care they need, as demonstrated by this new feature of being able to schedule their next appointment online.

“Sometimes parents need a little help getting everything done during the day. Now they can schedule their child’s appointment for whenever it’s convenient for them,” said Lyn Nuse, MD, senior medical director, primary care pediatrics.

“We believe online scheduling will give parents a peace of mind and freedom, while maintaining their child’s access to care,” Nuse added.
