REGIONAL: Governor offers reward for info in Anson County murder, attempted murder

Gov. Roy Cooper on Wednesday announced that the state is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the 2020 murder of Maliki Byrd, 16, and the attempted murder of Chrishaun Hough, 15, at the time of the incident.
On Jan. 20, 2020, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Wadesboro Police Department responded to a shooting in the roadway in front of 603 Oak Lane, Wadesboro. Upon arrival Wadesboro Police officers discovered a vehicle riddled with bullets. Byrd was pronounced dead at the scene and Hough was critically injured. Hough survived the shooting, but is now paralyzed.
