Highway Patrol: Albemarle woman dies after collision in Davidson County

The North Carolina Highway Patrol is requesting assistance in locating a vehicle that fled the scene of a fatal collision in Davidson County Tuesday morning.
At 4:03 a.m., a vehicle (possibly a 1985-1991 Chevrolet van with left headlight damage as a result of the collision) was traveling North on U.S. Highway 29 and collided with a pedestrian walking in the roadway just North of Basset Drive, according to N.C. Highway Patrol. After the collision, the vehicle fled the scene.
The pedestrian identified as Miranda Dawn Williams, 50, from Albemarle, was fatally wounded as a result of the collision and died at the scene.
