Randall Burleson of Endy and Chuck Morehead of Albemarle were two of the three leaders of 36 Boy Scouts leaving Concord for a 20-day tour of the Southwest, including 13 days at Philmont Ranch in New Mexico.
Stanly boys going included Douglas Mason, William Litaker, James Millican, Clayton Mauldin, Johnny Poplin, Pritchard Dennis, Larry Almond, Oscar Bolch, Bobby Lambert, Richard Padgett and Jack Lowder.
