Charles Michael Parker has been appointed chief magistrate for Stanly County in the 20A judicial district.

Chief District Court Judge William C. Tucker appointed Parker to the post on Aug. 30. Parker has more than 27 years experience as a magistrate in the county.

Not since Tony Ritchie has Stanly County been home to a chief magistrate.
