The Pfeiffer University Athletics Department announces schedule updates for the weekend along with the USA South Outdoor Spectator Policy.
The men’s basketball game against N.C. Wesleyan, originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, has been moved to 2:30 p.m. This change is to avoid some potential wintry weather that could impact travel for the opponents.
In addition, the men’s soccer team will now host Mary Baldwin on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
The Falcons were originally scheduled to play at Mary Baldwin, but recent and forecasted snowfall for the Staunton, Virginia area could possibly make field conditions unplayable. Kickoff between Pfeiffer and Mary Baldwin will be at 1:30 p.m. at Lefko Field.
Pfeiffer is also scheduled to host a men’s lacrosse game on Saturday at 5 p.m. The Falcons will open the 2021 season against Centenary (La.).
Also, the Pfeiffer men’s tennis team has postponed their home match with Hampden-Sydney and have rescheduled that match for March 13 at 1 p.m. at the Knapp Tennis Center.
The USA South has also announced the Outdoor Sports Spectator Policy for the upcoming spring sports season.
The presidents of the USA South Athletic Conference have agreed to a league-wide policy limiting spectators attending any outdoor USA South sporting event to the students, faculty and staffs of the host institution. Institutions may adopt more strict policies, if so desired or required by local mandates, but may not follow standards which are more relaxed than those set by the conference presidents. These decisions are in alignment with CDC, state, local and campus protocols, recommendations and guidelines while also made in consultation with athletic directors, athletic trainers and staffs.
Limiting spectators to those within the host’s campus community will assist in maintaining the health and safety protocols which are required by those campuses.
Sports affected include baseball, football, lacrosse, soccer, softball and tennis. This policy also includes the USA South Cross Country, Track & Field and Golf Championship events.
For volleyball, the already established league-mandated indoor spectator policy applies.
