An Albemarle man was transported to Atrium Health Stanly after a car ran a red light and collided into his truck Tuesday morning along N.C. Highway 24-27 near Eastgate shopping center.
At approximately 6:59 a.m., Jennie Frances Pethel of Albemarle, who was driving a 2017 Ford SUV, ran a red light and collided with Robert Russell Kendall, 72, who was driving a 1987 Ford Truck, Albemarle Assistant Police Chief Jesse Huneycutt said.
Pethel, 28, and four children who were also in the car were not injured. The vehicle received an estimated $2,000 worth of damage. Pethel was ticketed for failure to stop at a red light, failure to secure a child under the age of 16 and failure to notify DMV of an address change.
The car Pethel was driving is owned by Billy Sutton of Albemarle.
Kendall’s car received an estimated $5,000 worth of damage and he also was ticketed for failure to wear a seat belt as the driver. He has since been released from the hospital.
