Stanly County Health Department currently reports 33 positive cases of COVID-19, with four deaths. Twenty-six individuals have recovered.

North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has updated who may be eligible for COVID-19 testing. Individuals may be tested if they fit the following guidelines:
• Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms
• Fever
• Shortness of breath
• Cough
• Headache
• Sore throat
• Chills
• Repeated shaking with chills
• Muscle pain
• New loss of taste or smell
• Anyone in close contact (within 6 feet for more than 10 minutes) with a person known to be positive for COVID-19, regardless of symptoms
• Anyone at higher risk of exposure or higher risk for severe disease, regardless of symptoms, including the following:
•• Live or work in a long term care facility, homeless shelter, correctional facility, or migrant farmworker camp
•• Over 65 years of age and/or with an underlying health condition
•• Uninsured/underinsured, a minority, or homeless
•• Healthcare workers and first responders (law enforcement, EMS, fire
department, military)
•• Front-line and essential workers (grocery store/retail clerks, food service
workers, manufacturing workers, etc) where it is hard to maintain social
distancing

Testing at Stanly County Health Department is by appointment only. Call 704-982-9171 to make an appointment, financial assistance is available. Additionally, your healthcare provider can refer you to the Stanly County Health Department COVID-19 testing site.

Individuals can stop the spread of the virus by following the 3 W’s:
• Wear a cloth face covering.
• Wait 6 feet apart. Avoid close contact.
• Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer.
